"Birch" began as black, then blues and greens were added followed by layers of reds and golds. With each new layer, the colors beneath were randomly scraped into shapes upon the new layer until a forest emerged. Adding tissue paper helped identify the leaves and the dominant red-gold application determined the direction of the trees.
My paintings are finished with several coats of UV protected varnish to preserve their brilliance.
