Abstract Expression is to take the random and give it shape.

Ancient Truth

"Ancient Truth" is part of the PRIMORDIAL SERIES expressing ideas on canvas about the history of communication and its importance to the creative evolution of mankind. From the earliest languages and Cave Art to the development of writing and computers, our incentive has been to share our individuality with others. "Ancient Truth" is a celebration of this journey illustrated through bold, rudimentary colours and uncomplicated shapes. Secondary to the dominant composition are the underlying African symbols from Nsibidi, the Runic spelling of "truth" and the depiction of the word "truth" in binary code. The white shapes in motion were assembled randomly and serendipitously represent a "t" in binary code. The evolutionary connection of binary code is astonishing. It was invented in the 17th century by German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz who's inspiration for the code was based on a 5,000-year-old Chinese text known as the I-Ching, or Book of Changes. From ancient scrawlings to elementary groups of ones and zeros...the cycles of history complete themselves.
