With no outcome in mind, this painting was created with a random base of black and white shapes. Then, a composition of color blocks was applied and certain areas were scraped away to allow some of the black and white shapes to emerge. Some areas suggest "depth" and others...flat space. This is the "artistic tension" that I strive for in my work. The title was apparent to me upon completion as I saw in the shapes...NYC.
