This painting began with a "feeling" about the ocean but with no plans for a boat. Spontaneous expression creates serendipitous shapes as layers of paint are applied in random order. My brushes follow impulses rather than rules but my talents and training do provide subconscious direction. A great Expressionistic painting is the balance of both.
My paintings are finished with several coats of UV varnish to preserve their brilliance.
